COURSE REVIEW

TEACHING ACTIVE BIRTH WORKSHOP - Janet Balaskas

This two day workshop (28th/29th January 2012) was the first two days of a course leading to Certification as an Active Birth Teacher. It is a highly interactiv/experiential course which focuses on maximising the opportunity for a normal birth.

It is highly recommended for any antenatal teacher whether proceeding to full Active Birth Certification or not. I found the training in the use of a model female pelvis to heighten birth visualisation very useful as well as working in groups to explore the teaching of birth positions.  The course highlights the importance of knowledge of the hormones involved in birth, and how they can help or hinder normality. This was a weekend very well spent!!

NEWS - TWO AMAZING MIDWIFE/HYPNOBIRTHING PRACTITIONERS WALK OFF WITH TOP PRIZE!!!!

Alison Fyfe and Donna Burns were recently awarded the 2012 Royal College of Midwives Award fro "Promoting Normality" in London recently.

Both of these midwives, who both work in Crosshouse Hospital in Ayrshire, have been researching how HypnoBirthing-The Mongan Method can help women with severe fears of fear of childbirth birth more easily and comfortably.  Many of these women were so afraid they were contemplating electing for a caesarean birth. After training in HypnoBirthing with Donna and Alison, their births expreriences were absolutley amazing.

You can read about it by following the link below:

Well done Alison and Donna!!!!
